Prague

Prague is the capital city of the Czech Republic and is also known as Praha in Czech. Another name of the city of Prague is Hlavní město Praha which can be translated in English as Prague, the Capital City. It is situated in the center of Bohemia near the Vltava River. For more than thousand years Prague has been the academic, cultural, political and economic capital of the Czech Republic.

The city of Prague is divided into the city proper and the metropolitan area with an average population of 1.2 million and 1.9 million respectively. The city is the most famous tourist destinations in the entire Czech Republic and is also ranked amongst the most beautiful cities of Europe. The city has many visitors each year and is mesmerizing to the senses. Despite the heavy bombings of the Second World War the city escaped without much damage and retained its beauty and grace.

This is one of the most economically viable states of Europe and is the major contributor in uplifting Czech Republic to the status of a developed nation. It is one the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites for more than 16 years now and has the largest castles of the ancient worlds called the Prague castle and also holds this record in the Guiness World Records.

Prague has been called Praha matka měst in Czech which means the mother of cities and Praga mater urbium which is translated to city of a hundred spires in English. The city is multi cultural and beautiful and flooded with beautiful sights that are delightful to watch. The tourism industry of the city is flourishing and it is also a place where many art, fashion and entertainment events are held.
