Newark

The city of Newark is one of the cities of the state of New Jersey which is located in the United States of America. The city has the status of being the largest city of the state, as well as being the county seat of Essex County. According to figures collected in the year 2000, Newark was home to more than two hundred and seventy three thousand people. This figure made the city of Newark rank sixty fourth among all the cities of the United States of America with respect to size, and rank first among all the other municipalities of the state of New Jersey. In the year 2006, the population increased to more than two hundred and eighty thousand, that is, an increase of around three percent.

The city is situated at a distance of around eight kilometers due west of Manhattan, and at a distance of around three kilometers due north of Staten Island. The Port Newark has become the major container shipping port for both the New York Harbor and the Newark Bay. This is because of the fact that is located on the Newark Bay near the Atlantic Ocean. The Newark Liberty International Airport became the first main airport which provided services to the metropolitan area of New York.

The climate of Newark can be classified as being a humid subtropical climate. The weather in the summer season is hot, and the weather in the winter season is chilly. The ocean which is situated near to the city has a certain amount of influence on the climate, which is that it moderates the climate to some extent. Another affect which the Atlantic Ocean has on the climate is that the city of Newark has a warmer climate as compared to other cities which are situated on latitude which is similar to that of Newark.
