The state of Oklahoma is situated in the south central part of the United States of America. In terms of land occupied Oklahoma ranks on number 20 as compared to all the other states with a total area of 69,898 sq miles or 181,196 km². The total percentage of water in Oklahoma is 1.8%. Oklahoma ranks on number28 amongst all the states of United States of America with a total population of 3,579,212 according to the census of 2006. The name of the state of Oklahoma is derived from two Choctaw words Okla and humma. The words are translated in English as the land of the red men. The state was made out of the Indian Territory in the beginning of the 10th century. The date of discovery is marked as 16 of November 1907. Oklahoma was the 46th state to be accepted in the union after acceptance of the constitution of the United States of America. The capital city of the state of Oklahoma is the Oklahoma City.

The economy of the state relies on its natural resources as well as agricultural output. The state has also been subjected to industrialization and technology boom and is the hub of U.S aviation and telecommunications. The economy of Oklahoma is considered to be amongst the fastest growing ones in the entire of United States of America and the per capita income is the third largest.
